Tips to prevent choking

Choking hazard foods

Some foods can cause choking. Avoid feeding babies and young children grapes, hot dogs, raw carrots or peanuts. Always cut food into small pieces of less than 1.5 cm. Encourage children to chew well and to remain seated during meals. Never let children run, walk, play or lie down with food in their mouths. Watch out for the actions of older children, as many cases of choking occur when they give an unsuitable food or toy to a younger child.

Keep the following foods out of the reach of children under 4:

  • Hot dogs
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Pieces of meat or cheese
  • Whole grapes
  • Hard or sticky candies
  • Popcorn
  • Peanut butter pieces
  • Raw vegetable pieces
  • Chewing gum

Tips to Reduce Risks:

✔️ Cut food into small pieces
✔️ Always supervise young children's meals
✔️ Make sure they are seated properly when eating
✔️ Avoid dangerous objects and foods within their reach.

Adopt these precautions to ensure your child's safety and reduce the risk of choking on a daily basis. 🚸
